Public schools infused with $23 million

The financial condition of Oconee public schools last month dramatically changed….for the good. Gloria Moore, finance director, told the trustees the district received $23 million dollars in collections from the county. County Treasurer Greg Nowell said today that $18.3 million of the $23 million represented the public schools’ share of Duke Energy’s 2014 tax payment of $27 million. The rest of the $23 million, he said, came from other county collections.
