Public workshops set on Chattooga decisions

U-S Forest Service officials invite the public to take part in one of two Walhalla meetings on the 2012 decisions to manage recreation uses on the upper segment of the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River. They want the interested public to come prepared to roll up sleeves to create a shared vision on what to do about campsites, trails, education, and group sizes. The meetings take place at 3 and 6 o’clock Tuesday, August 19  at the First Baptist Church on E. Main Street. They’ll begin with information from the Forest Service, followed by break-out sessions that focus on designated trails and campsites. Specifically, the Forest Service wants to hear from the public on which campsites and trails to keep or close.
