Public’s help requested

SC DHEC and three Upstate water facilities are seeking information from the public about the illegal dumping of hazardous materials into sewer systems. An investigation into the origin of the materials is underway by state and federal authorities. Through routine sampling, three publicly-owned treatment works learned that substances containing poly-chlorinated bi-phenyls have been illegally introduced into the waste water collections systems of Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District, Renewable Water Resources, and the Town of Lyman.
