Pursuit suspect in custody

A man whom a deputy sheriff says attempted to kill him is now in Oconee County custody.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, 37-year old Easley resident David Lee Cook was placed in the Oconee Jail Thursday, charged with attempted murder.  An arrest warrant, issued by Magistrate Blake Norton, identifies Cook as the man accused of driving a truck “straight at” Deputy Phillip Robertson January 22, forcing Robertson to jump out of the way.  To try to disable the truck, Robertson fired at a front tire.  The truck driver eventually stopped but ran away.  The incident was reported at highway 59 and Rogers Road, as part of a chase started by the highway patrol.  The Oconee Sheriff’s Office took custody of Cook at the Pickens County jail.
