Rain expected to provide “some (wildfire) relief”

The first measurable rain in weeks fell during the night, and those at fire incident command in Pickens County believe rain forecast for both today and tomorrow should bring some relief to the drought-stricken area of the Pinnacle Mountain fire.  Efforts yesterday were aided by higher relative humidity.  Fire fighters burned a section just north of the Table Rock reservoir toward Buzzard Mountain Road that further re-enforces the eastern perimeter. Table Rock State Park re-opens today, but all roads and facilities are closed with the exception of Carrick Creek Trail, the Pinnacle Mountain Trail and the Foothills trail portion at the park.
