Rain on the way, as the drought committee convenes

Parts of South Carolina, including 101.7/WGOG land, have been dry.  But the forecast indicates some immediate relief on the way, rain beginning tonight and intensifying tomorrow.  And this is the day that the state’s Drought Response Committee meets by conference call to decide which areas of the state require an update of their drought status.  Since the committee’s last meeting in July, the coastal counties have been wet but the Upstate dry.  Without normal rain, Oconee was an example of a county categorized in the first stage of drought.  That rating could be elevated based on today’s meeting.
