Re-cycling revenues for conservation expenses?

The board governing Oconee’s Conservation Bank, according to its chairman, is stymied by the lack of funds with which to pay landowners willing to place their properties into conservation protection.  Shea Airey, the chairman, proposed last night that County Council designate a portion of the revenues the county earns from re-cycling.  Airey says he believes the county’s conservationists would be willing to increase the types and amounts of re-cycling materials, should the county agree to an allocation.  The conservation bank has only $3,295 in donations, but could be in line for a $600 thousand grant by the end of the year.  Airey’s comments, at the start of last night’s meeting, were accepted by the council as information.
