Re-surfacing and re-habilitating the state’s roads

On the drawing table in the New Year are plans to re-surface and re-habilitate several state roads and highways across Oconee County.  South Carolina 24 and the secondary 488-the Wells Highway near Seneca are among the highways that will see improvement.  Josh Makison, resident construction engineer for the DOT, says some contracts have already been issued.  Others are pending the state’s letting in January.  A major 2015 project has virtually been completed, in the estimation of Makison.  It’s the remake of the rural southern Oconee intersection of highways 24 and 59 at Crossroads/Tokeena.  Makison predicts 2016 will see the finish of the roundabout project on Wells Highway at Strawberry Farm Road.
