Reaction to the Graham pullout

Lindsey Graham’s pullout is no surprise to a top fellow Oconee Republican.  Bob Skipp, chairman of the county party, says, “He probably realized he wouldn’t win the primary in South Carolina which might wind up being a little embarrassing to him.”  Skipp doesn’t believe Graham is thru with Presidential politics. He thinks Graham will endorse a fellow Republican and believes that will be Florida’s Marco Rubio. A spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee, Eric Walker, said this about Republican Graham’s pull out:  “In its 2012 election autopsy, the Republican Party made a big deal about supporting immigration reform and reaching out to Hispanic voters. Three years later, the one presidential candidate who has consistently favored comprehensive immigration reform just dropped out of the race after attracting virtually no support. At the same time, the party’s front-runner has consistently demonized immigrant communities, while the party’s second-place candidate recently challenged the rest of the field to align with his extreme position of opposing legalization or citizenship for undocumented immigrants….”
