Renovations and additons to start at Ravenel

Major work, to the tune of possibly as much as $7 million, is about to get started at Oconee County’s Ravenel Elementary School near Clemson. Although a lot of the renovations and additions are to be accomplished once school lets out in early June, there will be times when contractors will be on the job while students are in the classrooms. It won’t be the most ideal situation, but architect Brian Deichman told the county trustees that contractor Trehel Corporations and all others involved in the work will work as a team to minimize any disruptions. The project will include the addition of a school gymnasium, enlarging the media center, moving the music room, and adding kindergarten spaces. Some grading of the school grounds will be required, and Deichman last night showed 3-dimensional slides to give trustees an idea of how the school campus will change.
