Resolution re-drawn for Oconee County Council
A resolution on international matters that have potential bearing on the United States has been re-drawn to be considered during next week’s meeting of the Oconee County Council. The resolution for Tuesday night’s meeting opposes the re-settlement of Syrian refugees in Oconee and supports South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in her opposition to allowing Syrian refugees to re-settle within the state. It has been rewritten to include, however, that “…the Oconee County Council recognizes that it is a body of limited jurisdiction in relation to immigration issues, including the Refugee Resettlement Program….”
