Riley running!

May 19, 2014

Ernest Riley, a former Seneca councilman and retired educator, is announcing he will stand tomorrow as a write-in candidate to decide a special election for the Seneca seat on Oconee County Council. With no ballot candidate remaining, the task facing voters in Seneca, Utica, and Newry-Corinth tomorrow is to fill the open District Three seat by writing in a name. A second write-in hopeful, Paul Cain, is now free to solicit write-in votes—in the wake of the withdrawal Friday of Republican nominee Andy Inabinet. And both Cain and Riley are expected to be present for a candidates’ forum at 6:30 tonight at the Gignilliat Center. In a statement last night, Riley said, “I ask you to seriously consider writing in my name, “E” Riley, as your choice for this seat. I feel I have earned the right to be considered because of my long history of serving the citizens of Seneca and the area as an effective educator and city councilman. I have learned much about how to effectively and fairly get things done.”
