Rising 7th graders must have Tdap

All students entering the seventh grade must receive or have already received a dose of Tdap vaccine to protect them from pertussis (whooping cough.) A spokeswoman for Oconee public schools says if students received their shot after the age of 7, they then need to submit records to verify that. Schools require a South Carolina certificate of immunization and those students who can’t produce one won’t be allowed to attend school. Parents and guardians are urged to make an appointment with their child’s health care provider today.
