River kayakers found safe

Two Chattooga kayakers, identified as a male and female, are reported safe this morning—the result of a rescue operation last night. Shane Gibbs of  Oconee Emergency Services says  search and rescue started around 6:30 last night and concluded it upon locating the kayakers  a couple of hours later in the Earles Ford area of the Wild and Scenic River.  He identified them as two Georgians–part of a group of five kayakers. “Two boaters missed the access and continued to float downstream.  They were not prepared for the cool weather we had (last) evening and they were overdue,” Gibbs told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
