Roads pre-treated, Oconee awaits nature’s move
There’s a reason that Oconee County’s state-maintained roads and highways have a brighter than normal glint to them. The DOT took the pro-active action of dousing them with a de-icer in the event that the latest winter storm deposits ice on them. Mike Smith, resident maintenance engineer, is concerned. Here’s his advice to motorists: “Ask the folks to be careful if they have to get out on the roads. If they don’t please stay at home.,” he said.
