Roads slick and slushy in Walhalla area

Oconee County Dispatch reports roads slick and slushy in the Walhalla area. The weather system has moved out of South Carolina, but small cells of rain are hanging around. The DOT reports all interstate routes are open to traffic. Air temperatures are mainly above freezing with scattered locations below 32 degrees. State crews are on rotating, 12-hour work shifts applying salt and other anti-icing/de-icing materials. Because of the potential for hazardous conditions, as temperatures reach the low for today, the DOT recommends against travel unless absolutely necessary and then with extreme caution. At 6 this morning, temperatures across the Upstate ranged between 32 and 36 degrees.
