Robber’s take recovered in woods behind bank

The man who robbed a bank near Seneca yesterday ran into the woods where the dye pack apparently exploded. And it was there that investigators found the money that the robber left behind. By early last night, Oconee sheriff’s officers were still looking for the man who held up Community First Bank at 123 and the Sheep Farm Road around 4:15 yesterday afternoon. Pictures from the bank’s surveillance cameras showed the robber to be a white male wearing a green hat and a gray t-shirt with a Clemson insignia across the chest. Investigators do not believe the robber had a weapon. He passed a note to a teller and was given money in a manila envelope. If you have information on the robbery or the identity of the suspect, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 638-STOP.
