ROTC cadets to sink or swim in survival test

ROTC cadets at Clemson University will be tested on their stamina and personal courage in a combat water survival test at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon in the Fike Recreation Center pool. The test evaluates cadets’ stamina in water and their ability to complete three stations while wearing a uniform. One of the requirements is that a cadet must swim 15 meters carrying an M-16 rifle without touching the pool sides or bottom. Passing helps ensure cadets have the fundamental water survival skills needed to lead soldiers in a hostile environment where there’s water.
