Safety message from SC DOT

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) urges motorists to stay off roads as at least 211 state roads and 43 bridges are closed due to historic flooding in South Carolina.  Acting SCDOT Secretary Christy A. Hall said, “The average vehicle can be swept away in as a little as 12 inches of moving water and stalled out in as little as two feet of water.” The public can find travel information such as road conditions on the SCDOT web site: www.scdot.org. Note that due to rapidly changing conditions, additional state roads and bridges may be closed and not listed on the web site.
