Salem could use a boost!

The school closure vote last night, in the view of at least two Oconee County Council members, is a demonstration that the Salem area could use a boost from the general government side of Pine Street.  Edda Cammick, chairwoman of the county budget and finance committee, indicated today she will step up her effort to provide assistance to a town that full of empty storefronts and, according to its officials, is stymied when it comes to attracting growth on nearby SC 11.  Council Chairman Wayne McCall says it’s “paramount” that the county help Salem pay for a new utility line that could lead to commercial development in the vicinity of the Cliffs and Keowee Falls South home developments.
