Salem Woman Faces Drug Charges

Chasity Hope BatesIn another drug arrest, a Salem woman was taken into custody and is facing drug charges. According to the Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jimmy Watt, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Beverly Road in Salem late Sunday evening. Deputies encountered individuals who claimed to be removing a water heater from a house on the property. Deputies searched the vehicle at the scene and discovered a ball canning jar with a crystal substance. The jar was tested and found positive for methamphetamine. The woman admitted it was hers and while searching her, she told officers she had a taser. The woman, 26 year old Chasity Hope Bates of Whitewater Falls Road in Salem arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
