SC appeals for help to build observation tower

May 10, 2013

If you are stuck over a Mother’s Day gift this year, South Carolina invites you to make a gift of remembrance that’ll go toward enhancing the state’s highest point, Sassafras Mountain in Pickens County. The DNR is marketing engraved bricks to be set at the base of a planned observation tower atop the mountain. Once built, the observation tower will enable visitors to see more than 50 miles in all directions. Bricks may be designated to honor or in memory of a child, friend or loved one. To buy a brick or for more information, visit www.harryhamptonfund.org/sassafras.html. A link to Sassafras Mountain fund raising can also be found on the DNR website at www.dnr.sc.gov/sassafrassmountain.html.
