Scholarship reserved for an Oconee student

This year’s scholarship program of the South Carolina Association of Counties will benefit an Oconee County senior.  The program awards $2,500 scholarships annually to graduating seniors who are residents of counties chosen by lot by the association.  Because Oconee was selected in a draw, one scholarship will go to an Oconee resident.  Applicants must be planning to attend a South Carolina college or university or two-year technical college in the fall.  All applicants must complete a form and write an essay on their goals and aspirations.  Two letters of recommendation are required.  Scholarship notices and application forms have been sent to all Oconee high schools, and students may apply online via http://www.sccounties.org/scac-scholarships.  A committee selects the recipient in April.
