School lunch price increase next year

One of the action items for Oconee school trustees next week is a recommendation to raise the price of a school lunch by 5 cents for 2015-16. The trustees are being told by Dr. Michael Thorsland, county superintendent, that the Department of Agriculture requirements mandate that school lunch prices be increased until the price for a full pay meal equals the amount that USDA reimburses for a “free meal.” The school board meeting takes place at 6 o’clock Monday night in Walhalla.
