SCHP explains fatal crash

The S.C. Highway Patrol has issued an explanation for yesterday morning’s fatal crash on highway 59, not far from the interstate. A spokesman for the patrol said a car driven southbound by James Rufus Brown, 79, of Willie Road, Fair Play attempted a left turn from S.C. 59 onto Brandon Drive when the collision occurred. The patrol identified the other driver as Lucky Stone of Twin City, Georgia. According to Lance Corporal Bill Ryne, Stone’s Peterbuilt trailer truck was headed from the opposite direction. Coroner Karl Addis said Brown became the 22nd traffic fatality in Oconee County for 2012.
