Screenings to reach younger women

New guidelines will allow a partnership to be able to help more under-served women from Oconee and the rest of the Upstate detect breast and cervical cancer. The partnership, between Clemson University’s Joseph F. Sullivan Center and the Best Chance Network, will offer breast and cervical cancer screenings to un-insured, under-served women 40 to 64. The new guidelines fall in line with American Cancer Society recommendations that women get yearly mammograms beginning at age 40, said Caitlin Moore, health educator for the Sullivan Center. Screenings this winter and spring in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens, and Greenville counties include the following dates and locations: March 18 at the Oconee Health Department in Walhalla and February 5, March 5, and May 7 at the Clemson Free Clinic.
