Second arrest in shooting at apartment complex

A second arrest has been announced in the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office investigation of a weekend shooting at the Central apartment complex “The Cottages of Clemson.”  Arrested yesterday in Lexington County was Jackson Quaid Rowland.  A Chapin resident, Rowland is charged with attempted murder and the possession of a weapon during a violent crime.  The man wounded, identified as 21-year old Pomaria resident Jaye Andrew Stuck, is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck and head area, but is expected to recover.  Previously arrested was Daniel Heath Dixon, charged with accessory after the fact.  Sheriff Rick Clark made this statement:  “On Monday, I spoke directly with a representative from the management oversight team for the Cottages of Clemson.  I am very encouraged by their commitment to the safety and security of their tenants and their desire to partner with local law enforcement as we identify and implement additional security measures to minimize any opportunities for violence.”  Earlier the Sheriff’s Office made this statement about the scene around midnight Saturday:  “A crowd of individuals estimated to be 500 to 1000 people were present when a physical confrontation erupted between several men to include the victim.  During the encounter, one round was discharged at the victim striking him while he was on the ground in the struggle.”
