Second arrest in theft at doctor’s office

A second arrest has been reported in the theft of credit cards last year from a doctor’s office in Seneca. Law enforcement records show the arrest last night of Brandi Danielle Mauldin. The 18-year old Salem resident is charged with three offenses of criminally receiving goods as part of 11-month investigation of the theft of credit cards belonging to an employee of specialist’s office. Although Mauldin’s arrest was made by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, the investigation into the September 9, 2013 incident was started by the Seneca police. Authorities quote the victim of the theft as saying she noticed the credit cards missing after she allowed a patient the use of the phone in her office. The investigation showed the credit cards were later used at two stores in Applewood Shopping Center and a nearby restaurant. On January 17, a second person was taken into custody as part of the investigation.
