Sen. Alexander to be recognized by American Cancer Society

At a Greenville event today, Oconee-Pickens Senator Thomas Alexander will be recognized for his commitment to raise awareness and to support funding for the state’s Best Chance Network, which offers free screening to women.  The occasion will be annual Pink Tea of the Cancer Action Network of the American Cancer Society.  This year’s Pink Tea is dedicated to the memory of Dee Dowis, a football legend killed in August in a car accident.  Dowis was a long time supporter of recognizing breast cancer survivors, caregivers, and educating how the state can help diminish death and suffering from breast cancer. This year, the American Cancer Society estimates that 4,010 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in South Carolina and 210 will be diagnosed with cervical cancer.
