Seneca gets the best opinion possible

The Seneca mayor and council left their meeting last night with a kick to their steps. Not just because they had finished their February meeting in time to watch Clemson-Notre Dame basketball. They had just received a favorable financial opinion from their outside auditor, coupled with an expectation that new economic development is on its way. Mike Stancil, certified public accountant, said his examination of Seneca’s books show an increase of $3.3 million in its net position, to a total of $52.6 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2014. Stancil said there were no discrepancies. He commended city officials and said that, as a member of board of Oconee Economic Alliance, he predicts some good things ahead for which Seneca will benefit. Stancil said it’s his understanding that the city-owned commerce building on Shiloh Road, formerly Pro Pex, is now all-rented.
