Seneca grant officially approved

Seneca’s source for funding to prepare for those electric-power buses has been confirmed with the receipt this week of an approval from the South Carolina DOT. “We received the letter from SC DOT that we’ve been awarded the $1.8 million for the Livability Grant which is going to allow us to build improved bus shelters…,” said Ed Halbig, director of Seneca Community Planning and Development. Those shelters are to up at Oconee Medical Center and downtown. There’s also to be enough money to upfit the Seneca Rail Site, the former Pro Pex building, to store the buses when not in use.
