Seneca intersection needs “open-heart surgery”

Seneca’s 123-130/E. N. 1st Street intersection has received a new coating of asphalt but, in the opinion of the city administrator, that’s not enough. Greg Dietterick last night said the intersection requires “open-heart surgery.” At a meeting of the Oconee Municipal Association, Dietterick said he’s hopeful that the government service agency, the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments, can be a funding source to help pay for a reconstruction of the of the intersection, which serves as a main entry to Seneca’s east side. According to Dietterick, traffic volumes beg for wider turn lanes and adjusting the timing of light changes to better move the cars and the trucks.
