Seneca rounds up drug suspects

On a cold, windy morning the Seneca police are trying to clear their city of drug law violators. Chief John Covington says this roundup of 41 suspects, wanted on 60 arrest warrants, arises from six months’ investigation by his department’s narcotics unit. Suspects are wanted for offenses including distribution of cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, controlled substances, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and hashish, and unlawful sale of a handgun. Covington says later today he’ll release a list of those charged and their alleged offenses. In this roundup, Seneca officers are getting help from the Oconee Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
