Seneca to change its building permit structure

Seneca is looking at changes in its process for building permits.  It’ll mean an increase in the permit fee, but city leaders believe reducing paperwork will ease a builder’s burden.  And that’s borne out  from initial feedback to city officials.  During a non-action meeting last night, Ed Halbig announced a proposed increase of the base fee to $50 dollars for all jobs valued up to $10 thousand.  Those projects with a higher value would require permit fees on a graduated scale. According to Halbig, initial indications are that the increase would require a builder, on average, to pay an additional $8.50, which he said won’t be onerous to a builder.
