Seneca to make offer to the Temptations

Seneca hopes an offer to the famed Motown group Temptations will entice the band to be the featured act for this year’s Memorial Day weekend bash.  The city council last night agreed to offer $30 thousand for a one-night performance, with Hospitality, Accommodations Tax monies as part of the city’s events budget.  Councilman Stuart Pohl, owner of a Ramcat Alley bar-restaurant, raised questions about the city’s plans to stage the Saturday night concert at the Gignilliat Community Center instead of the Norton-Thompson Park downtown.  He was told by members of the council’s Events Committee that the city is considering making the Temptations concert a ticketed event requiring an admittance fee.  They believe the group will attract a large crowd and believe the city can handle crowd control better at Gignilliat than at the park downtown.
