Seneca to mark African-American History Month

Seneca’s mayor and council were told last night that the city’s plans for its annual observance of African-American History Month are lining up for a February 13 luncheon at the Gignilliat Community Center. The public is invited at no charge. Featured speaker will be Clemson University’s Dr. Roy Jones whose topic will be “Saving the Black Male.” According to Seneca’s Shelby Henderson, Seneca’s plans for African-American History Month fit nicely into a year which will see forward movement on the city’s plans to build the Bertha Lee Strickland Museum, which will serve as a depository for African-American history in Seneca and Oconee County.
