Seneca to rejoin Oconee Economic Alliance

Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander’s appearances at recent business forums sponsored by the Oconee Economic Alliance are a precursor to a mending of the fences between city and the county organization. At a special meeting last night, Seneca City Council voted to re-join the public-private partnership that works to better the entire county. Three years ago, Seneca chose to not renew its membership in an inter-organization dispute over whether to support a college starting classes in Seneca. But last night Greg Dietterick said, as city administrator, he has never stopped working with Richard Blackwell of the Economic Alliance and County Administrator Scott Moulder to foster economic development. By re-joining, Seneca takes advantage of a lower membership rate, which is now $3 thousand a year. Diettrerick told the mayor and council, “I think it is a good thing.”
