Seneca utilities garner national safety award

Seneca’s Light and Water department has earned a national award for outstanding safety practices. For 2014, the utility earned the Safety Award of Excellence from the American Public Power Association. It recognizes Seneca for first place in a category for utilities with 30,000 to 59,999 worker-hours of annual worker exposure. The award was  announced yesterday by Kenneth Roberts, chairman of the APPA Safety Committee, during an association meeting in Sacramento, California. Nearly 300 utilities entered consideration for the award, and Roberts said this about Seneca Light and Water and the other utilities: “The recipients of this award understand the essential nature of safety in our line of work. It’s embedded in their work culture.” Bob Faires, Seneca utilities director, said, “Above everything, I am proud that our employees work together to do everything in a safe manner so that we can all go home to our families each and every night.”
