Seneca votes on new wholesale power deal

Seneca is halfway there toward a new arrangement to buy its electrical power from a wholesale supplier. At city administrator Greg Dietterick’s recommendation, city council voted last night to approve first reading of an ordinance to sign a contract with the state-created Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) in Moncks Corner. Dietterick told the mayor and the council they’ll have all the details when the ordinance is presented for a second and final reading. The first reading was taken last night with one member, Councilman Dana Moore, out of  the room. A Duke Energy employee, Moore excused himself from the discussion and vote.
