Seneca welcomes grant and seeks loan

Seneca’s elected leaders took actions last night to welcome an outside grant that’s going to help the city facilitate its move to electric-powered passenger buses. In their special meeting, the mayor and council also agreed to seek a $13 million state loan to pay for utility system improvements. Mayor Alexander and City Administrator Dietterick have the authority to sign for a $1.8 million South Carolina DOT Livability Grant that will pay to help set up charging stations for the electric buses and the purchase of a fifth electric bus. At Dietterick’s request, the council approved a resolution to seek a State Revolving Fund loan to make improvements to the water plant and electric system upgrades.
