Seneca’s share of the load increases

Oconee’s largest municipality will bear a larger load of the obligation during the next year to pay the costs of wastewater treatment. During a discussion last night of the next budget, Bob Winchester of Joint Regional Sewer Authority announced Seneca’s percentage of the treatment costs will increase by approximately two percent—from 61 to 63%. It’s a point not lost on Seneca’s Greg Dietterick who has pushed to allow his city greater representation on the board that sets sewer policy. In an interview with 96.3/WGOG NEWS, Executive Director Winchester said, “The pro rata share is based on the flows in the system last year. Each city has a pro rate share of that based on their portion of that….” The other municipal members of the JRSA are Walhalla and Westminster.
