Sertoma Field “standing in water”

The beating that Oconee and the rest of the southeast are taking is no friend to the folks who are organizing this week’s Oktoberfest at Sertoma Field.  The low-lying recreation field is described today as “standing in water” in several sections, and the creek there is rising with rain to continuing to fall.  The rain and the field soaking are delaying the start of Oktoberfest installations–such as the big tent.  Walhalla’s annual celebration of its German heritage will run three days, officially beginning Friday evening.
