Service to Mankind awarded today

An individual who has made accomplishments in the field of environmental protection received the Service to Mankind Award as presented today by the Seneca Sertoma Club. The award winner is Heyward Douglass, a retired Clemson University pilot.  But it’s Douglass’s efforts to advance the well being of the planet that merited the honor.  He’s the executive director of the Foothills Trail through upper regions of Oconee and Pickens counties.  He has sponsored hikes that have raised money for groups such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
