Settlement removes case from trial docket

Court officers say an agreement allows for an out of court settlement in a new trial alleging defects in a Lake Keowee home development.  That agreement was reported by attorneys this morning in the Commons Pleas Court at Walhalla.  We’re told that once a formal order is approved, the second phase of a trial involving the Stoneledge townhome development will come off the civil trial docket.  Two and a half years ago, a jury returned verdicts amounting to $5 million dollars against companies and others involved in the construction of the townhomes.  Part of that case, we’re told, remains under appeal.
