Settlement reported at hand

The Seneca city administrator says an agreement is near to end the combat between county government and the county’s largest municipalities.  At City Hall, Greg Dietterick reported last night that the representatives of the member cities of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority are ready to sign off on a settlement over the county’s refusal to live up to an agreement to pay the JRSA $610 thousand over a long-running period of years.  Dietterick, one of Seneca’s representatives on the JRSA, said the sewer commissioners are likely to vote Monday night to accept a one-time $1.9 million payment from the county.  That money, he said, will allow the JRSA to replenish a depreciation account that was used for engineering fees for a Martin Creek basin improvement project.  At the same time, the county will be relieved of future $610 thousand payments.  Dietterick invited questions, to which Councilman Dana Moore exhibited a puzzled look.  Moore said he wants to re-read some of the documents covering agreements between the county and the city members of the JRSA.
