Sewer improvements in southeast Westminster

Antiquated sewer lines are to be replaced along Hampton Street and in other parts of Westminster, provided the city succeeds in obtaining a South Carolina Community Development Block Grant. During a public hearing last evening, a representative of the Appalachian Council of Governments said Westminster is applying for $300 thousand for the project. The hearing was one of two required hearings as part of a process that could end this summer with the grant award. The mayor, the city administrator, and a reporter were the only ones who attended the hearing. The city is hopeful for a better turnout tonight when it sponsors a community envisioning event at 6 o’clock at the Historic Westminster Depot at 135 E. Main Street.
