Sewer line break near Seneca

Crews from the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority worked thru the night to contain and make repairs to a sewer line break on Reedy Fork Road near Seneca. And those repairs continue today. Bob Winchester, JRSA executive director, described the break as “fairly major” and the cause has been attributed to the age of the line (34-year old pipe.) According to Winchester, the spillage, however, has been minimal and none of it reached a waterway, as the nearest body of water, Speed’s Creek, is three-quarters of a mile away. Repair work was delayed for a time late last night as Fort Hill gas crews repaired a service line accidentally cut in the sewer line repairs.
