Sewer overflows

City of Walhalla has issued a public notice to residents of Shadybrook Drive and Warner Mill. Several manholes are flooded. Those in those two areas should avoid contact with the streams until flood conditions have passed. Walhalla is monitoring the water quality of the streams and will make further announcements. At Clemson, a sewer overflow occurred during a three-hour period yesterday afternoon at pump station #9 near 303 Mountain View Lane. The city of Clemson reports the overflow approximated 500 gallons or less, and it did reach Lake Hartwell. A crew was sent to check the surrounding manholes and incoming lines. It’s recommended that everyone stay clear of the lake for the next week to allow the area to return to its natural state.
