Sheriff to fulfill campaign promise

The second-year Oconee Sheriff said today he’s hopeful of fulfilling a campaign pledge by the end of the year. And that promise from Mike Crenshaw is to complete his examination of the $500 thousand worth of drug money embezzled from the Sheriff’s Office over a near three-year period starting in 2007. Although not Sheriff when the money was embezzled, Crenshaw is mindful of questions from the public that persist more than three years since the then office manager pleaded guilty and was sent to prison. “I think there’s going to be some poor record-keeping but I feel confident, as we go thru it, there we should be able to account for ever how much money was missing and, hopefully, who’s responsible for that,” Crenshaw told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
