Slight drop in Oconee’s joblessness

Oconee County ended 2014 with a slightly lower jobless rate for December. For the final month of the year, the state pegged the county’s unemployment rate at 6.2% of its workforce—meaning that, of an approximate workforce of 32,000, two thousand members of its workforce were looking for new work. The November 2014 rate was slightly higher, at 6.4%. Across South Carolina the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate declined to 6.5% in December, from the November rate of 6.7%.
